Jemma A Takx is a Florida native and a proud double Nole. Jemma earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, cum laude, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Florida State University. While in law school, Jemma was a Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial national finalist, an advocate on the Vis Moot International Arbitration team, a brief writer for the Moot Court team, a board member of the Law School Counsel, a student ambassador, served as the Executive Article Selection Editor for the Law Review and as a staff editor to the Journal of Transnational Law and Policy and the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law, was a research assistant to the Journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and worked as a Law Clerk at the Southern Poverty Law Center. Jemma also worked as the legal assistant to the Executive Director of the International Bar Association in London, U.K.
Prior to law school, Jemma worked in the House of Commons as a parliamentary and constituency assistant to a London-based MP. While in Parliament, Jemma helped organize the ‘Free Nazanin’ campaign and advocated for the release of improperly detained constituents in Iran. Seeing the injustices constituents suffered at the hands of those in power inspired Jemma to go to law school to be able to better raise her voice for the protection of others. Jemma began her legal career in the public sector as a Children’s Legal Services attorney with the Florida Department of Children and Families handling cases involving child abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Jemma then transitioned into private practice working on a variety of civil litigation issues.
Jemma recognizes the importance of fighting for those who are unable to fight for themselves and is committed to protecting employment/partnership rights and franchisee rights.
