Last month, the law firm of Cantrell Schuette reached its One-Year Anniversary.
We set out with a clear but difficult goal: to become one of the nation’s top law firms focused on employment law and high-stakes business disputes, with an emphasis on representing the underdogs whose problems we sympathize with. Our clients have primarily included top executives, highly-compensated salespeople, professionals (including other attorneys), entrepreneurs, and select national companies. We have also represented several groups of individuals with class action claims or multi-party disputes.
In our first year, we had extraordinary growth across all metrics – more staff, more clients, and successful outcomes for our clients. A few highlights:
New Attorneys & Staff
- We doubled in-size in terms of employees/attorneys.
- Every attorney in our law firm either graduated in the top 5% of their law class (most even better) or from an Ivy League law school (such as Harvard Law).
- Combined, our 6 attorneys have been lead trial counsel in over 60+ trials/arbitrations.
- All of our attorneys have substantial experience in employment law and/or high-stakes business disputes.
None of our attorneys are “junior.” They all have at least nearly a decade of experience. Most have closer to 15 or 20 years of experience.
Clients & Success Stories
- Types of clients: We represented over 120 new clients. Of those, about 60% were individuals (executives, salespeople, and professionals) and about 40% were companies (entrepreneurs and select national companies). We are also proud of work we refused to handle. For example, we’ve had companies want to retain us to enforce non-compete agreements against low-wage earners in non-technical industries – we said no.
- Trade Secrets Disputes: We were hired by several in-house counsel/companies to prosecute high-stakes trade secret lawsuits. All of those cases resolved on extremely favorable terms.
- Non-Compete Litigation & Guidance: We successfully defeated nearly a dozen attempts by companies to enforce non-compete agreements – we lost none of those cases. We also represented over 50 individuals by providing detailed guidance relating to their non-compete or non-solicit agreements, and in many cases renegotiated such agreements. Most of those clients were c-suite executives (CEOs, CFOs, CROs, COOs, etc.) or highly-compensated salespeople.
- Business-to-Business, Partnership, Franchise, & Founder Disputes: We represented approximately a dozen companies or entrepreneurs in high-stakes business disputes, including business-to-business disputes, partnership disputes, franchise disputes, and founder disputes. These disputes involved many different industries, including healthcare, staffing/recruiting, financial services, insurance agencies, cybersecurity, retail, and logistics.
- Wage Disputes: We recovered nearly a million dollars in unpaid overtime, commissions, and bonuses.
Our focus is ensuring our clients are happy, both with the outcome of a matter and the cost. While that may sound like a platitude, we’d like to think that virtually all of our clients would highly recommend us. But don’t take our word for it!
